Living in Alkmaar means that you are near everything you need because of its efficient public transport. The A9 motorway is from Amsterdam to Alkmaar to Den Helder. There are trains that service the city to Den Helder, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Haarlem, Leiden and The Hague. The area has two railway stations Alkmaar and Alkmaar Noord. Alkmaar is located near the Noordzee Beach, only 15 minutes to Bergen aan Zee, Egmond aan Zee. This area gives you a lot of opportunities and quality time for your familly at the weekend. Although Alkmaar is and continues to be a Dutch cheese city, the title covers only part of what is has to offer. For years the city has been entitled to call itself one of the best shopping cities in the Netherlands. As you wander through the streets with their impressive monuments you will be amazed at the beauty of the old town. This beautiful city is just fifteen minutes from the beach.
European school bergen
Bergen has his unique European School. The pupils in this 4-18 school are educated in a secure, happy, relaxed yet stimulating and challenging multilingual environment. The learning of languages taught by native speakers is at the core of their mission as they prepare pupils to be aware and responsible European citizens, following a broad European curriculum leading to the highly regarded European Baccalaureate.
Most pupils leave the school with a high level of fluency in at least two languages, although it is more common for them to have good language skills in at least three to four languages by the time they finish in the secondary cycle, including competence in Dutch if they are non-Dutch speakers. The pupils of this European School have the chance to participate in a wide range of educational, cultural and social activities in the school, the local community and in many events across Europe before they go on to study at a range of the top universities in Europe and North America.
